The Department of History was established at the meeting of the Executive Board of YÖK on 08/06/1994, in accordance with Articles 7 / d-2 of Law No. 2547 and Article 3 of Law No. 2809 amended by Law No. 2880, but started its work in 2003 with the appointment of a founding faculty member. In the 2004-2005 academic year, 30 students were enrolled in the English preparatory program and education started in the 2005-2006 academic year. Five divisions of our department (Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern History, Modern History and History of the Republic of Turkey) are available. Of these, Modern History, Modern History and the Republic of Turkey thesis graduate program in the Department of History is carried out. In the 2011-2012 academic year, evening education undergraduate program was opened in our department and a doctorate program in our department was opened.

Our aim

The purpose of the department; Our aim is to conduct research and research in all periods of human history and Turkish history, especially in recent times, in accordance with scientific principles, and to develop new research methods, with a holistic and comparative approach, utilizing modern technologies. Graduated students can pursue an academic career in the field of history or find employment opportunities in archives, libraries and similar institutions and organizations related to history and information.
