Civil Engineering is a basic engineering branch, which combines materials and technique in the best possible way, and deals with the projects, planning, construction and inspection of constructions. It’s an engineering discipline that projects and materializes the foundation stones of civilization, as its name “Civil Engineering” implies “Civilizations Engineering”. It’s regarded as the basis of engineering.

The mission of our Department of Civil Engineering is to provide its students with the knowledge and skills required by civil engineering profession, and also with a sense of responsibility regarding the needs of the society and their profession.

The objectives and advantages of the program are providing its students with the opportunities to receive education in a modern undergraduate program, with advanced laboratory facilities,
from experts in their fields, and educating qualified engineers by taking into consideration the needs of our country in the field of civil engineering.

The study period at Department of Civil Engineering is four years. The internships done within this period will enable our students to get to know the working life and establish business relationships with successful companies. During their education our students will, after taking basic engineering courses such as mathematics and physics, also take courses that will enable them to have basic knowledge in each of the civil engineering branches such as material science, mechanics, endurance, construction technology, transmission, reinforced concrete and steel constructions, hydraulics, soil mechanics, environment, construction management, and will be educated as so they will be more competent in one of these branches. Our education programs are computer-aided.

Along with these, our students can also participate in international Student Exchange programs and can further widen their horizons through completing Double Major or Minor programs.

Working Areas

Graduates of Civil Engineering Department have a wide range of employment opportunities. The graduates can set up their own businesses, or can work in domestic or foreign construction companies in Turkey or abroad. The construction sector in our country, in terms of business potential on global basis, is ranked as the second country in the world after China. The main employment area for civil engineers is the private sector entrepreneur companies.
