Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 17/02/2012 and numbered 2012/2852. Seed Science and Technology Undergraduate Department was established in 2013 at our university for the first time under the roof of Agriculture Faculties in our country. In our department, tissue culture, secondary metabolite production, synthetic seed, micropropagation, production of plant natural compounds, plant biochemistry, plant physiology, research of physical and mechanical properties of seeds, seed storage, plant nutrition, soil fertility, fertilization, soil analysis, soil pollution, etc. It has the capacity and equipment to carry out joint studies with many disciplines in order to solve plant production problems in the fields. Our graduates will be able to find job opportunities in various universities and research centers, units affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and companies producing seeds and seedlings.

In addition to the significant increase in the use and production of certified and high quality seeds in our country, determination of registered varieties, determination of new and superior plant varieties in terms of yield and quality through various R&D studies are among the matters that have strategic importance in agricultural production. This understanding is at the top of the founding principle of our undergraduate program. Turkey, renewal of the legislation in the seed sector, in this context, particularly in terms of local seed sources, including our farmers to have a commercial form of special importance is attached to and cooperation with state agencies and institutions. In this context, it guides its stakeholders by disciplining crop production and marketing, addressing R&D activities for variety breeding from a wide range of agricultural products of high strategic importance with national and international cooperation and projects, and also bringing the innovations in the protection, storage and soil reclamation of targeted agricultural products has an understanding.
