Ergotherapy, also known as occupational therapy, is “skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all aspects of their lives”.

Occupational therapy is a treatment method that focuses on maintaining and using personal abilities necessary for casual daily work and the recreational activities of people of all ages with any type of physical, sensorial, mental or social handicap through the sensible engagement in activities.

The aim of the Ergotherapy Programme at Fenerbahçe University is to equip the students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to become therapists who are able to plan patient centred therapy through evaluation and intervention to improve the health and well-being of people with meaningful and purposeful activities.

Ergotherapy graduates can work in hospitals, health centres, geriatric centres, social centres, centres for public health and occupational health as well as rehabilitation centres.

The Ergotherapy Bachelor Degree Programme Graduates; will be equipped with the basic principles of ergotherapy, basic medicine, physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

The graduates will have the knowledge and skills to assess, describe, identify, prevent and treat problems affecting the health and autonomy of individuals, families and groups of people.

The graduates will be able to observe practical activity situations and analyse the influencing factors affecting the success of activities. They will be able make a holistic evaluation of the patient’s functioning.

The graduates will have the competency to support a patient to keep, maintain, regain or gain competencies necessary for the planning and realization of their everyday tasks in interaction with the environment.
